At Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), next to Gate D1, Roam Fitness allows passengers in terminals D and E, like Caroline Tanner, who have plenty of time before a flight or who have just landed, to fit a workout into their travel day. A day pass costs $25, while an annual pass costs $360 ($30 per month).

Her day pass also included leggings from Lululemon, a sports bra, a shirt and Brooks running shoes in addition to Roam’s 1,175 square feet space. Men can choose from the same tennis shoes, a T-shirt and Lulu shorts. You can also buy sportswear brands Lululemon, Girlfriend Collective and Roam.

In addition, Roam provides access to Wi-Fi, charging stations and safe lockers to store your belongings. Plus, new customers receive a free bottle of water.

A cardio area with Technogym treadmills, a Skillmill, elliptical bikes and a Concept II rowing machine are available to guests. The strength area has free weights, benches, a dip and chin machine, a vertical knee-lift machine, a TRX system, plyometric boxes and medicine balls. There is also a stretching area with foam rollers, stability balls and floor space for unrestricted movement.

As you prepare for takeoff, you can track your flight on Roam’s flight information board, which provides information on aircraft departing from terminals C and D.

Four full-service showers with Malin+Goetz products, hair care products, deodorant, dental care products (toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash) and shaving kits are available with a day pass. Be sure to reserve your shower when you check in if you want to shower at a specific time; otherwise, you may have to wait if it gets crowded.

Although the bathroom area is well stocked, you can also purchase a range of other goods, such as COVID -19 tests, face masks, eye patches, boxers, hair ties, travel-size deodorant and body lotion.

Do other airports offer gyms?

While Roam stands as the sole conventional gym located within a domestic airport concourse, alternative fitness facilities can be discovered in various U.S. airports, such as San Francisco International Airport (SFO). SFO holds the distinction of being the pioneer airport to offer a yoga room to travelers. The yoga room at SFO is situated in the Terminal 2 connector, connecting boarding area C of Terminal 1 with boarding area D of Terminal 2, as well as near boarding area E of Terminal 3.

Additionally, there are a number of gyms at nearby domestic and international airport hotels, such as the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and The Health Club at the Hilton at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) close to Terminal 2.

Similar alternatives are available internationally at Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH), Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
