AMD’s unreleased Radeon RX 7950 XTX, 7950 XT, 7800 XT, 7700 XT, 7600 XT, & 7500 XT RDNA 3 GPUs have shown up in a ROCm 5.6 pull request.

Unreleased AMD Radeon RX 7950 XTX, 7950 XT, 7800 XT, 7700 XT, 7600 XT, 7500 XT RDNA 3 GPUs Spotted

AMD has yet to launch or announce a new Radeon RX 7000 GPU based on the RDNA 3 graphics architecture besides the Radeon RX 7900 XTX & RX 7900 XT but it looks like a recent pull request made within Github has disclosed several announced GPUs as spotted by a member of the AMD subreddit. The list of the cards is seen below (Credits: u/cherryteastain):

The AMD RDNA 3 GPU portfolio is based on three main chips, the Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33. The Navi 31 GPU is designated as “GFX1100” and codenamed Plum Bonito, the Navi 32 GPUs are designated as “GFX1101” and codenamed Wheat Nas while the Nav 33 GPUs are designated as “GFX1102” and codenamed Hotpink Bonefish. There’s also a GFX1103 design which is aimed at integrated IPs such as APUs.

Now these AMD Radeon RX 7000 RDNA 3 GPUs have been listed within the recent ROCm 5.6 pull and may just be placeholders but since they are also listed besides their RDNA 3 GFX IPs, we can guess what AMD is planning to do with the lineup. It looks like a possible high-end Radeon RX 7950 series refresh will reuse the Navi 31 core architecture while the Radeon RX 7800 XT will be the only Navi 32 chip on the block. This aligns with previous rumors.

AMD has pointed out that they have the resources to develop a higher-end RDNA 3 graphics card that could compete with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 but didn’t plan on making such a card due to price/power constraints. We can speculate that this vision will come to form with the RDNA 3 refresh as the RX 7950 XTX and 7950 XT though Navi 31 is already being offered in its peak core count so the only other updates we can expect from a possible refresh will be higher clocks, faster memory and more power, as we saw with the RX 6950 XT.

Also, the Navi 33 chip will be powering the entire mainstream and entry-level RDNA 3 GPU lineup including the Radeon RX 7700 XT, RX 7600 XT, & RX 7500 XT graphics cards along with the mobile RX 7700 and RX 7600 series. It’s weird that only one AMD Navi 32 GPU exists but it is also likely that AMD will position its Navi 32 chips as the flagship mobility offerings which might explain its limited nature on the desktop front though that could change when the actual cards are announced. The cards are also only listed in their “XT” variations whereas Non-XT models are also likely to appear sooner or later as was the case with the Radeon RX 6000 series.

During its earnings call yesterday, AMD confirmed that it will launch new mainstream Radeon RX 7000 GPUs based on the RDNA 3 architecture within this quarter so it’s likely that we are going to see some of these cards in action very soon. The company also released its ROCm 5.5 yesterday and the ROCm 5.6 pull seems to point out the groundwork being laid out for the newer version with even better RDNA 3 support.
